The good news is that we will see the limited edition of Audi’s RS 6 Avant, called the GT, in South Africa during the second quarter of this year. The bad news is that just one of these bad boys is earmarked for our shores. In total only 660 will be produced.

What’s new?
It is more about appearance than outright performance where the RS6 is already amongst the top performers.
Exterior:
The new Audi RS 6 Avant GT stands out from the RS 6 Avant performance (which will remain available) thanks to the RS 6 GTO concept. The front end takes obvious inspiration from the RS 6 GTO concept.
The Singleframe and the air intakes are finished entirely in high-gloss black, which makes the car appear even lower and wider. Vertical blades in the front apron, a new intake grille and a powerful front splitter integrated into the bumper enhance the sharpened look.
For the first time, Audi Sport GmbH is not only using a fully redesigned bonnet but is also manufacturing it from carbon fibre. An impressive pass-through roof edge spoiler, redefined diffuser and 22-inch wheels in a distinctive design underscore its top position in the model series.
Interior:
The interior features bucket seats, a fresh colour combination and individual numbering in the centre console.
The black interior is enhanced by numerous accents in the exclusive colour combination of red and copper, such as the stitching on the steering wheel, the sides of the centre console, the centre armrest, the door armrests and the floor mats with “RS 6 GT” lettering.
The new RS bucket seats in a leather-Dinamica combination and the “RS 6 GT” lettering right below the headrests also feature this colour scheme. The honeycomb stitching in the centre of the seat shimmers in Express red, while the stitching on the outer seam of the bucket seat is finished in copper.
Drivetrain:
Lightweight adjustable coil over suspension unique to the RS 6 Avant GT and a reworked quattro sport differential on the rear axle sharpen the driving experience.
The twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivers 463 kW and 850 Nm of torque, good for reaching 100 km/h in a mere 3.3 seconds and 200 km/h in 11.5 with a top speed of 305 km/h. As standard, the RS 6 Avant GT features the RS ceramic brake system. Up to 70 percent power can flow to the front axle and up to 85 percent to the rear axle.
Electric vehicles (EVs) have introduced a whole new vocabulary into motoring. Instead of simply talking about litres of fuel, cylinders and kilometres per tank, motorists are now confronted with kW, kWh, AC, DC, WLTP, regenerative braking and a host of other terms.
Young South African motorists are increasingly opting for more affordable and practical vehicles as the cost of living puts pressure on household budgets, while still maintaining comprehensive insurance cover.
The row over BMW’s Spider-Man promotion is not really about superheroes. It is about trust, control and the creeping feeling that modern cars are becoming digital platforms first and private possessions second.
